Keeping Your Trees Healthy

When I first bought a new house, I realized that the front trees were a little overgrown. I was worried about a branch breaking in the wind and smashing into a window or the roof, and so I decided to invest in professional tree service. When the arborist came, he had more concerns than just a few overgrown branches. Apparently, a few of my trees had also developed serious pest infestations, and I was worried about what it might mean for their health. He carefully trimmed each tree to ward off disease, and within a few weeks, they were looking a lot better. This blog explains how a professional tree trimmer could help you, so that you aren't left with dying trees.

5 Reasons To Consider Residential Tree Clearing

Joshua Mercier

A few trees can be a welcome addition to almost any yard, but too many trees on a single lot can cause problems. These are just a few reasons to consider tree clearing on your property.

1. Reduce Mold and Moss Issues

Mold and algae stains on siding, or moss growing on the roof or in the yard, can be issued when you live on a heavily treed property. The problem is with trapped moisture and minimal sunlight, two qualities that lead to lush mold, mildew, and moss growth. Instead of constantly battling these problems, simply removing some or all of the trees can solve the problem.

2. Let In More Light and Airflow

Too much shade can leave your house feeling cold and damp, and the stagnant air under the tree canopy can also be a nuisance. Removing a few trees will allow for more light, which can make your home feel warmer during cooler weather and help decrease your energy usage. Better air circulation is also an improvement, especially since poor air circulation can lead to respiratory irritation.

3. Eliminate Risks to the Home

Trees growing close to the house can pose several different types of risk. The most obvious is damage from falling trees or branches, which can puncture the roof or rip off the siding. Even tree debris, like leaves, can lead to roof issues if they collect in gutters or along eaves. In some areas, there are fire risks to consider when trees are growing near the house. Clearing an area of trees creates a buffer zone to protect against the spread of flames.

4. Open Up Space for Activities

Too many trees can make your yard unusable when it comes to the activities you enjoy most. Heavy tree cover blocks sunlight, which makes both flower and vegetable gardening nearly impossible. If you have kids or pets, then you may need an open area for them to play. Further, too many trees can make your yard dark and gloomy, not the best feeling if you like to entertain.

5. Make Yard Maintenance Easier

Although beautiful, trees do increase yard maintenance needs. There is the need to rake leaves in the fall, and with fruiting trees there is also the mess to clean up after fruiting so that pests are attracted to the yard. Regular fertilizing, watering, and pruning of the trees are also needed. Removing some or all the trees will reduce maintenance needs and free up your time.
